Stepping through a door

I keep to myself most of the time. But this morning I felt lead to write this and share a bit about stepping through a door and letting God show you he is the midst of it all.

This journey started over 2 yrs ago, when Dan’s family asked us to move in with them and help them out for a bit. Which we were obedient in doing.  But that open the door to the place where we are at now.

Someone told me a long time ago, that you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. That’s what happened when we stayed with Family for a time. Things weren’t what they seemed and we continued to follow the Lord and what He had planned for our lives.

So back several months ago, I felt the Lord calling us back to a church we loved and a family that cared for us. Not saying our current church family didn’t care they did and the prayers were there and we could feel them. To this day we still can.

But God opened a door in August to serve at a church that we 1st came to when we moved in the area. We went there in the beginning because it was part of a church that we were at when we moved. But then, Dan’s sister wanted to go to church so we went some place closer. So we did that and fell in love with the Pastor and the congregation and they were family and still are today and will always be family.

So in August there was a blurb on Facebook, that this church was looking for someone to help with Tech on Wednesday night. I already had been already learning tech at the church I was currently attending. So I started to volunteer on Wednesday night and then one Wednesday night, I was talking to the Pastor and said looks like we are moving to the area.

We had been looking in the area where we were staying but the rent was high and the apartments and houses we could afford were like shoe boxes and still had to pay utilities. So we decide to expand our territory.  So, one day I had Dan, call about a 2 bedroom place here in Dekalb. He called and was told that the 2 bedroom was on the 3rd floor. Which wasn’t good for him. Dan has a handicap and can’t do stairs well. Well, then the owner of the building tells him that she has a handicap 1 bedroom and if we wanted to look at that. Dan said yes and we set the appointment to look at it in September.

So we filled out the paperwork and were approved. We came in to fill out paperwork for the place. When we did we had God’s favor because we could move in with just Security Deposit. and September rent when we got our Disability check. Which was an answer to prayer. We thought we couldn’t move in til we had both. But God has another plan.

So we started moving in on August 23 and fill got everything moved in the 1st week of September. But, We still needed things. We weren’t sure where they were to come from but God did..

God had me to post on a Freecycle site to share our needs and see what came of them. But, we were too much in a hurry for that.  So we went to a Rent to Own store and applied for a kitchen table. Then I get a message from a friend that she had one and If I wanted to come pick it up it was all mine. Then we went back to the Rent to Own and said we were looking for a bed and that door was shut. But God opened another door and we got a bed from an agency that helps others.  So to say we were blessed was an understatement and we are still being blessed.

Well, today we are saying goodbye and being blessed to take our new roles here in the Dekalb area. It was a tough decision. We will visit from time to time but we won’t be members and we won’t be serving there. Prayers will still be there and so will be friendships and God’s love.

Each day, we thank God for letting us step through the door into His destiny for Our lives and that our lives will be touched by him.
